Brígida is a demi-soloist with the Ballet of National Moravian-Silesian Theatre.
She started dancing at the age of three in her native Portugal, later moving to England to further her studies at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London. After graduating she was engaged with various companies, dancing as a freelance dancer in productions with the English National Ballet, Vienna Festival Ballet, English National Opera, Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and Push Here Now at Sadler's Wells Theatre. In 2007 her curiosity took her to Hong Kong and China, where she danced as a soloist with the Liaoning Ballet of China, the second biggest ballet company in the country. In between all the international touring and appearances in the 2008 Olympic Games and 2010 Shanghai Expo, she still found time to set up her own ballet classes for children and adults, in her free time. Upon returning to Europe in 2012, she joined the Tivoli Ballet Theatre in Copenhagen and the English National Ballet once more, before coming to Ostrava.
She regularly attends dance courses in Bournonville technique and other dance styles, as well as keeping an open mind to any new opportunities that come her way.
Brígida speaks five languages, including Mandarin, although Czech is not yet one of them (work in progress!)
She loves to be onstage, to work hard in the studio and to learn something new everyday. With over 10 years of professional experience in ballet and contemporary dance, she believes now is the time to start giving back some of the rich and diverse knowledge she has accumulated over her career.
